Jack Marshall is a 25-year-old Eagle Scout from Frankfort, Ky. He has been enjoying backpacking and the outdoors in Kentucky since middle school. Most recently, Jack has been working as a conservation educator for the Boy Scouts of America at their national high adventure sea base in Summerland Key, Fla.
“This Sheltowee Trace thru-hike is my first attempt at a solo multi- week trek. I first started considering hiking ‘Kentucky’s Long Trail’ while beginning preparations for an Appalachian Trail thru-hike. I’ve completed several other long trails with the support of others, such as the Scouts, but this is the first hike on the same scale where all the planning has been on my shoulders. I should say that the Sheltowee Trace Association has been a big help with the logistics. I’m thrilled to be taking on this challenge and getting to know parts of my state to a degree of intimacy which would be impossible without an adventure like this.”

Thanks for the plug Jack. The STA is here to help all thruhikers or section hikers with trail information guidebooks, shuttle services, food drops. Whatever you need we are willing to try and help your journey on the Trace a memorable experience.
