Seth Wheat

North Central Region

“A bad day out here is still better than anything else I can think of doing.”
This is a saying I first heard on one of my earliest fishing trips with my grandfather many years ago, and have heard it from countless other anglers growing up.  I couldn’t agree with this sentiment more, not only as it applies to fishing, but with any activity that involves the great outdoors.

Born in Knoxville, Tennessee I moved with my family to Pikeville, Kentucky almost 15 years ago.    At home in Pikeville, I’ve spent countless hours exploring in the majestic Appalachian Mountains right outside my back door.  I’ve lived in central Kentucky for the past five years enjoying all the resources the Bluegrass region has to offer.  I realize how lucky Kentuckians are to have these opportunities for adventure right here at home.  I do my best to take advantage of these opportunities whenever possible.  While I have always loved the outdoors, there are many activities I have never tried before.  This will give me a great chance to not only try things I haven’t; such as rock climbing, overnight paddling trips or simply visiting attractions across the commonwealth I’ve never been to, but also to provide my insight and experiences to others who are looking to try something new.

When you get time, you should take up horseback riding. If you would like an inside look at the Mounted Patrol and the volunteers that make it happen, let me know.
