Sondra Rankin

Western Region

Meet Sondra Rankin, a professional female tournament angler, a country singer, a goodwill ambassador, a role model citizen, a mentor, Nashville recording artist, an outdoors woman, and on top of all that a single mom.

Sondra was born in Paducah, Kentucky on September 8th, 1978 and resides there still, with her 7-year old daughter Faith Noelle. Growing up on Kentucky Lake, sport fishing and the outdoors peaked her interests at a very early age. She recalls those memorable early childhood memories as a young girl with her daddy, who taught her all the basic skills.

Today Sondra is a professional bass tournament angler with the FLW tour, the most prestigious bass circuit in America today. Aside from her hectic schedule, Sondra is proud to be the Western KY Youth Director for the Fishing For Kids Foundation. She also hosts her own reality fishing show called “Turn up the bass…with Sondra Rankin”.

On March 13th, 2009, Sondra & her crew went to Iraq for a 10 day tour visiting US troops. Their mission: Operation Catch Fish.  Her USO tour involved a different military camp each day, hosting a casting competition, a fishing tournament, meet and greets, and singing the national anthem, all out of support for our troops overseas.

What’s next for Sondra? To continue to be the best mom she can be, win a FLW championship, and to continue pursuing her singing ambitions. On a more personal and inspirational level, Sondra’s goal and mission is to get more women & children involved in fishing, and reaching out to kids in search of a mentor for all kids.
